THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID – A series of talks with female artists, curators, writers and the Arts community. #TWSS seeks to contribute and amplify the work of womxn artists in South Africa and beyond. Every anecdote, every story, every kind of knowledge is seen as a step toward a better Visual Arts space.
Curated by Segomotso Palesa Motsumi in collaboration with the Bag Factory Studios, the series of panel talks render an offering of research, meditations, recordings and writing on various types of artistic delivery. This project has been developed through research done in 2016 by Motsumi during her research residency at the Visual Arts Network in South Africa. The residency output was presented in a form of a “fishbowl conversation” with Arts writer, Dr Neelika.M. Jayawardane, and subsequently in Holland, with Dutch women artists at Framer Framed in Amsterdam.
The talks journey through some of the conversations with many women artists in Johannesburg and Amsterdam, creating a continuous framework for discussion on archiving, storytelling, creativity, blackness and womanhood.
On 8th August 2019, it will be the last talk at the Bag Factory Artist Studios before the #TWSS exhibition takes place at Constitutional Hill from the 29th of August to the 19th of September 2019.
#TWSS has been wonderfully supported by Cointreau with a wonderful array of cocktails being served during the talks. Art Momentum has recently come on board as the media partner to support the project as an International online Arts platform
