THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID

THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID

– A series of talks with female artists, curators, writers and the Arts community that form part of the #TWSS exhibition taking place in August 2019.
Curated by Segomotso Palesa Motsumi with support from the Bag Factory Studios and Keyes Art Mile, this series of panel talks render an offering of research, meditations, recordings and writing on various types of artistic delivery. This project has been developed through research done in 2015 by Motsumi during her research residency at the Visual Arts Network in South Africa. The residency output was presented in a form of a “fishbowl conversation” with Arts writer, Dr. Neelika.M. Jayawardane, and subsequently in Holland, with Dutch women artists at Framer Framed in Amsterdam.

The talks will journey through some of the conversations with many women
artists in Johannesburg and Amsterdam, creating a continuous framework for discussion on archiving, storytelling, creativity, blackness and womanhood.

For this panel, Olivia Botha (2018 Cassirer Welz Award Winner) and Malebona Maphutse (Resident artist at the Bag Factory Art Studios) will be in conversation with Palesa Motsumi (Independent Arts Practitioner and Consultant).
