SEWING CIRCLE OF GIGGLES | FRI 27 MAR 2020, 11am - 1pm

Join artist in residence Georgina (Gina) Maxim for a sewing circle of giggles. The term sewing circle usually refers to a group of people, usually women, who meet regularly for the purpose of sewing, often for charitable causes while chatting, gossiping, and/or discussing. This event is open to men, women & gender neutral, young and old(er), so long as those attending are open to drawing with a needle and thread, and are partial to a bit of a chat and a giggle.

Gina is with us for a 3-month residency from Feb-Apr as part of Art Connection Africa, a collaboration between KfW Stiftung and Triangle Network to foster visual art exchanges, capacity building and informal learning activities within Sub-Saharan Africa. Her work combines weaving, stitching and the use of found textiles to create objects that are often entangled with memory and storytelling. She is also a curator and the co-founder of artists' collective Village Unhu.

Space is limited. Please RSVP to info@bagfactoryart.org.za to avoid disappointment.

Materials and refreshments will be provided.
