Artist’s Bio
Richard ‘Specs’ Ndimande is a fine artist. He was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1994. He studied at the University of Johannesburg where he obtained a Degree in Fine Arts in 2017. He works in sculpture, drawing, painting, photography and mixed media. His work is inspired by social ills committed in South Africa and across the world. He currently works and lives in Johannesburg.
Artist’s Statement
His practice looks at themes of oppression, servitude and exploitation and his fascinated by the human-animal hybrid. Ndimande's artworks depict the oppressed as prey and the oppressor as the predatory beast, thus allowing him to explore the oppressed and the oppressors in one figurative element, hiding who is truly in power.
