Join us for an open studio with visiting artist Ali Honarvar.
He has been captivated by African handicrafts and the different patterns and beautiful colour schemes thereof since his first introduction to this art form.
The artworks he has created in his residency illuminate the beadwork which has been his main source of material.
While in Johannesburg he has been engaged with his bead’s project, his fascination with African artists and their use of beads and the masterpieces created from them.
He elaborates;”In my opinion, whereas existing different mines of gemstones and precious metals have caused a myriad of problems on environmental issues and native people, Bead art has been an outstanding influence on Africa’s art economy and people”.
For him, Africa is a mine of arts, and he appreciates this mine because it has been an inspiration to his in many aspects and has given him new experiences.
