We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2024 David Koloane Award
The award is open to early career South African-based, contemporary visual artists, aged 21-35 who are not represented by a commercial gallery.
Artists working in the fields of painting, drawing, printmaking, lens-based and performance-based art are invited to apply by Tuesday, 23 April 2024 (23:59 SAST).

The winner will receive:
• Non-residential studio space at the Bag Factory for 3 months.
• Modest materials budget for art production while in residence.
• Mentorship and guidance from the Bag Factory’s community of artists.
• Curatorial and pastoral support from Bag Factory’s staff.
• The opportunity to participate in the Bag Factory’s programme of professional practice and artist development workshops, when applicable.
• Presentation of a solo exhibition at Bag Factory’s gallery showcasing works and content created during the residency.
The twelve-week residency will begin on Monday 06 May 2024 and run until Friday 26 July 2024.
The solo exhibition is anticipated to open on Saturday 27 July 2024 and run until Friday 23 August 2024.
