Andreas R Andersson (born. 1982 in Västerås Barkarö) is an artist living in the small village of Arvidsjaur, near the Arctic Circle in Sweden/Sápmi. With his violent sterile installations, the burnt-out blackness in his sculptures and an ability to combine hand-crafted materials with mass-produced everyday objects, Andersson creates a weird picture of today's cultural and political landscape. He´s projects shows how life extends beyond its own subjective limits and often tells a story about the effects of global cultural and political problems over the last 21st century. Andersson is educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Stockholm, Valand Academy, Gothenburg and Konstfack, Stockholm (SWE). He has exhibited his work across Europe, China and the United States.
Andreas Andersson's residency is supported by Iaspis, the Swedish Arts Grants Committee (Konstnärsnämnden) International Program supporting international exchange for practitioners in the areas of visual art, design, craft and architecture.
