Born at Okere,
Warri in Delta State of Nigeria, Olu Amoda studied the art of
sculpting in Auchi Polytechnic under Elis Erimona and Murphy Ajayi
arguably Nigerian's two most distinguished metal constructivists
of the early eighties.
Olu encountered
metal for the first time in 1981 and ever since then, has created
well over 2000 metal sculptures that can be found in all corners
of the globe. He has exhibited extensively in Nigeria and also
internationally, including Austria, the UK, Germany, Canada, and
the United States. He is currently principal instructor in sculpture
and drawing at the fine art department in the YABA College of
Technology in Lagos, Nigeria.
