Urban cut-outs (sketch)

Johannes Buss has studied Fine Arts in the Netherlands and Canada. After graduating in 1998 he moved to Berlin which has been his home for the last 5 years.
As a mixed media artist his work is not limited to one medium. He uses photography and video to document his temporary projects. His work often is presented in form of an installation.

His current work deals with the influence of afro-american pop culture (such as HipHop music and fashion) on urban life in european cities.
Through visual distribution (l.e. the application of typical popular cultural items, such as t-shirts, posters, music, badges etc.) his work wants to stimulate debate, cross-cultural exploration and artisitc interpretation of social and cultural trends.
Other works examine the construction of the male identity by, l.e. editing together film scenes of crying men and showing them as a video installation in public space.
