January/February

The internet is a very powerful tool which is very rarely used to it full capacity especially in the developing world where we have to constantly battle with service providers about slow connections, cap off limitations or just plain lousy service. However it is still a fantastic mine of information and connectivity whatever speed one is running at and we at the Bagfactory soon plan to make better use of it.

The Bagfactory website is currently undergoing a revamp and the new site will be uploaded in beta form later this month. We are hoping to add a number of new features which will include an online discussion forum which will reflect some of the discussions sessions that will take place at the Bagfactory and then be extended to our wider online audience. More information on this to follow.

José Ferreira will present an intervention at the Drill Hall launch produced in collaboration with fashion designers StrangeLove. Special thanks to Tegan Bristow for collaborating on the technical aspects of the project, Don Wood for assisting with the technology and programming, TC and Lara Rivera.

AfricanColours invites your comment on this topic: 'Drawing a Realistic Picture of Africa'
Art is often said to be among the forms of creativity, which mankind has remained addicted to for centuries past. It is indisputable that an extensive and unknown quantity of African Art ranging from paintings, sculptures, masks, handicrafts and even curios – are now displayed or retained as collections in the West. But do these works regularly displayed overseas; reflect a realistic image of Africa?

Please visit the AfricanColours website to view comment and contribute your opinion to this topical debate.
